Actor Áron Molnár discusses his new independent film and political activism
Áron Molnár talks about the self-financed movie “Az örökség,” its gritty plot and why he continues political activism despite pressure.
Molnár Áron describes the making of “Az örökség,” a low-budget drama about family abuse and generational trauma, filmed in a tiny flat with a 14-day schedule and no public money. He mentions co-stars Mucsi Zoltán, Lengyel Tamás, Udvaros Dorottya and Staud Viktória, and recalls earlier work on the TV film “Memo” produced by Gábor Kálomista, once favored by the government. According to Molnár, a representative from the Nemzeti Filmintézet hinted that the film could have qualified for funding if he and Tamás had not been the leads.
He also cites a statement by Hoppál Péter that projects with his involvement would be denied support. Despite these obstacles, Molnár says the story’s themes of elder exploitation, domestic violence and trans-generational madness remain vital, and he refuses to retreat from activism after the 2022 elections.
