Actor Larenz Tate joins forces to launch Vault, a new indie film streaming service

Actor Larenz Tate has partnered with Kenneth Gifford and his brothers to introduce Vault, a streaming platform aimed at giving independent creators more control and global reach.

Veteran actor Larenz Tate is expanding his behind-the-scenes portfolio by joining a venture with Newark International Film Festival founder Kenneth Gifford and his brothers Larron and Lahmard Tate to launch Vault, a new streaming and distribution hub for independent filmmakers. The platform, now live, curates a range of content including feature films, television episodes, documentaries, short-form videos and music, offering both free access and a paid subscription for a more tailored experience.

According to the launch announcement, over 50,000 subscribers have enrolled to date. Creators can host their work on Vault without fees, decide which pieces are free or behind a paywall, and retain full control over pricing and revenue. Additional marketing features let filmmakers assign genres and generate shareable, interactive landing pages to boost discovery and audience engagement.

Tate emphasized that Vault aims to return ownership and distribution power to creators while connecting their stories with viewers around the globe. The initiative builds on TateMen Entertainment’s prior collaborations with AMC Global Networks, ALLBLK and Starz, as well as its Chicago-based creative programs.

Why it matters

Vault could give independent filmmakers new tools to monetize and reach audiences without traditional gatekeepers.
