Adèle Haenel uses TV platform to demand sanctions on Israel and Palestinian freedom

On a Wednesday evening edition of France 5’s literary show “La Grande Librairie,” former actress and activist Adèle Haenel was given a personal “carte blanche” to close the program. After introducing her new book, she used the platform to denounce Israel’s conduct in Palestine as genocide and to label France as a complicit partner. Haenel urged viewers to impose sanctions on Israel and to work toward Palestinian one outlet.

The segment was part of a broader conversation that featured writers and filmmakers such as Virginie Despentes, Philippe Jaenada and Lilia Hassaine. Earlier in the show, hosts discussed topics ranging from author rights to classic literature. Haenel’s political outburst follows the April court ruling that found Christophe Ruggia guilty of sexual assault against her when she was a minor.
