Adobe adds timeline-integrated AI tools to simplify video and audio creation in Premiere

Adobe is overhauling the workflow in its Premiere professional video editor by embedding a Generative Media tool directly into the timeline. Users can now select a gap in a video or audio track and generate relevant B-roll, music, sound effects or soundscapes without switching to external browsers or apps. The panel offers multiple generative models—including Adobe Firefly, Google Veo, Runway, Luma and Kling—so creators can match the style of their project.

In addition, beta AI audio utilities can separate overlapping speakers, automatically lower music under speech, and independently adjust dialogue and ambient sounds. Adobe is also extending its AI Assistant to After Effects, enabling plain-language commands for project organization, technical fixes and effect creation without writing code. These updates aim to make AI generation more intuitive and less disruptive to editors' workflows.
