Adult son arrested after fatally stabbing father in Long Island apartment
A 33-year-old man was taken into custody after stabbing his 69-year-old father to death in a Mastic, NY apartment.
Around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, Sage Arias-Brown broke into his father Edward Brown’s Mastic apartment and attacked him with multiple stab wounds to the stomach and chest. Despite his injuries, Brown was able to dial 911 before losing consciousness, and he was later declared dead at the scene. A witness reported hearing the intrusion and Brown’s cries for help before seeing the assailant leave the building.
Police found Arias-Brown a few blocks away and took him into custody. He entered a not-guilty plea to second-degree murder, was denied bail, and is scheduled for a further hearing. His attorney noted a history of mental illness and an open robbery case against him.
