AEG and Archer Aviation partner to launch electric air-taxi vertiport at L.A. Live

AEG and Archer Aviation announced a partnership to build downtown Los Angeles’s first vertiport at L.A. Live for electric air taxis.

AEG and Archer Aviation revealed a multiyear agreement to develop L.A. Live’s inaugural vertiport, a vertical-takeoff and landing facility for electric air taxis in downtown Los Angeles. The plan envisions Archer’s four-passenger Midnight aircraft transporting riders to venues such as Crypto.com Arena in 10-20 minutes, cutting travel time dramatically compared with a two-hour car trip.

An initial feasibility study has examined land-use, airspace, power supply and community impact, and a second phase is now assessing operational procedures and the passenger experience. The partnership designates Archer as the exclusive air-taxi operator for L.A. Live, and the company already intends to serve locations including SoFi Stadium, USC and LAX, with Hawthorne Airport as its hub.

Archer also holds the role of official air-taxi provider for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, positioning the downtown vertiport as a showcase ahead of the games. A Midnight taxi will be on display at L.A. Live through Tuesday.

Why it matters

It introduces electric air-taxi service to a major entertainment district, potentially reshaping urban travel and supporting the upcoming 2028 Olympics.
