Aerial footage reveals massive makeshift settlement on Ceuta's Trampolín beach

Aerial and ground reporting by the Horizonte crew reveals that Ceuta's once-popular Trampolín beach has been completely occupied by a makeshift migrant camp. Over a kilometre of shoreline, from the desalination facility to aid distribution points, thousands of shacks, tents and improvised shelters made of reeds, cardboard and plastic now cover the sand. The inhabitants, predominantly young men from North-African countries who arrived following a mass arrival at the end of July, navigate narrow passages between the structures, cook outdoors and sometimes set up informal markets.
Waste piles on the ground, remnants of fires and occasional use of the sea as a washing area or dumping site have been observed. The program's team spoke with camp residents who displayed photographs of the beach before the occupation, expressing shock at the transformation. The report highlights concerns about overcrowding, sanitation and the response of Spanish authorities.
