AfD lawmaker Andreas Keith denies forged email linking him to extremist remarks
Andreas Keith, an AfD member of the North Rhine-Westphalia parliament, says a circulated email containing extremist statements is a fake and plans legal action.
Analysis of leaked AfD emails revealed counterfeit screenshots that falsely show Andreas Keith, an AfD parliamentarian from North Rhine-Westphalia, endorsing Adolf Hitler and dismissing the Holocaust. Keith, who served on the party’s state board at the time, told the researchers the message was never written or sent by him and labeled it a clear attempt to damage his reputation. He has initiated legal steps, including cease-and-desist notices and police reports.
The fabricated content was amplified by politicians from the SPD, Greens and CDU, who used it in social-media posts and a parliamentary debate to attack the AfD. Additional forged emails allegedly involving other AfD officials were also identified and dismissed as fake.
