AfD narrows gap to two points behind SPD ahead of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern election
A new INSA poll shows the AfD closing to within two points of the SPD as the state election approaches.
In a fresh INSA poll ordered by one outlet, the AfD is now only two points behind the SPD, marking a significant tightening of the race ahead of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state election. Compared with the earlier survey, the AfD improved by one point and the SPD by two, reducing a prior nine-point difference. The CDU holds steady at seven points, the Left sits ten points behind the leaders, the Greens five points, and the BSW three points.
Voter willingness to consider each party shows the SPD at the top, followed by the AfD, the Left and the CDU. When asked about preferred government participation, a majority favored the SPD, with the AfD, Left and CDU receiving lower support.
Why it matters
The narrowing race could reshape coalition possibilities and influence policy direction in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
