AfD surges in Brandenburg poll while CDU support collapses
A new Insa-Umfrage shows the AfD now ahead in Brandenburg, with the CDU falling sharply and the SPD lagging behind.
According to a recent Insa-Umfrage ordered by MAZ, MOZ and Lausitzer Rundschau, the AfD has become the leading party in Brandenburg, surpassing the SPD. The CDU experienced a steep decline, falling to a minimal share of the vote. The SPD’s support decreased, leaving it well behind the AfD, while The Left improved slightly and both BSW and the Greens held steady around the same level.
Other eastern states - Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia - also showed the AfD near the top of their polls, whereas Mecklenburg-Vorpommern remained just under that benchmark. The poll highlights a significant shift in voter preferences across several eastern German regions.
