AfD youth rally in Neumünster draws neo-Nazi music and large anti-far-right counter-protest
Around 130 members of the AfD youth wing marched through Neumünster accompanied by a neo-Nazi band, while roughly 800 anti-far-right demonstrators gathered nearby.
In Neumünster, the AfD youth organization staged a march with roughly 130 attendees, accompanied by a loudspeaker playing a track from the far-right band Kategorie C. The procession, protected by a sizable police presence, was led by members of Generation Deutschland, including board member Julia Gehrckens and speaker Kevin Dorow, who denounced a proposed Muslim kindergarten and invoked nationalist rhetoric. Former AfD politician Carsten Ortfeld dismissed concerns about the music, saying it was not banned.
Another AfD politician, Karsten Ambrosius, complained about Turkish businesses in the area. Opposing the rally, an anti-far-right crowd of about 800 gathered a short distance away, chanting slogans and playing techno beats that often overrode the AfD speeches. Police intervened to keep the two groups apart, allowing the AfD march to proceed without major disruption.
