Afpa plans up to 867 job cuts and closure of 30 training centres

The National Agency for Adult Vocational Training (Afpa) intends to eliminate up to 867 positions and may shut 30 of its 142 sites.

Afpa announced a restructuring that could see as many as 867 jobs removed and the possible closure of 30 training centres out of its total network. The move follows a 25% drop in revenue and a 39% decline in trainee numbers between 2021 and 2025. While cuts are proposed, the reorganisation also includes the creation of 400 new posts. The proposals were disclosed after a board meeting and have been highlighted by the agency's unions.

Why it matters

The cuts could reshape France's adult training landscape and affect thousands of workers and trainees.
