Africa50 aims to double its portfolio to $20 billion within five years
Africa50 announced plans to expand its asset base to $20 billion over the next five years, up from roughly $9 billion today.
The Casablanca-based fund, which has backed more than 30 projects across 32 African nations, intends to raise its portfolio value to $20 billion within five years. Its current holdings total about $9 billion and span sectors such as power generation and data centers. Africa receives only a small share of global infrastructure financing, and the continent’s investment gap remains large. Africa50’s flagship projects include power plants in Cameroon, Kenya and Madagascar, as well as data centre developments in Ghana and Kenya.
Why it matters
Expanding Africa50’s fund could help narrow Africa’s massive infrastructure financing gap.
