Agility Robotics to Deploy Fence-Free Digit v5 Humanoid Robot for 20-Hour Shifts

Agility Robotics’ forthcoming Digit v5 humanoid is built to function side-by-side with human staff without protective fencing, according to chief business officer Daniel Diez. The machine merges upgraded cameras and sensors with cycloidal actuators that let it detect people, maintain balance and react instantly, while a larger battery enables up to 20-hour workdays. A standardized ISO flange on its arms permits it to swap end effectors automatically, expanding its handling capabilities.

The company plans to begin fielding the robots to select customers in December, focusing on bulk material handling where labor shortages are pronounced. Diez noted that removing safety cages could unlock new uses in retail and pharmaceutical settings. Simultaneously, Agility Robotics is preparing a public debut through a $2.5 billion merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI, becoming the first U.S. pure-play humanoid robotics firm with disclosed revenues of roughly $300 million from about 1,000 units.
