Ahnlab to pour 100 billion won into AI-driven subscription model over three years
South Korean cybersecurity firm Ahnlab announced a 100 billion won investment to shift toward AI-centric subscription services and expand overseas.
At a press conference in Seoul, Ahnlab revealed a three-year, 100 billion won investment program focused on transforming the business into an "AI-native" cybersecurity provider. The funding will support AI infrastructure, enhanced research and development, and the hiring of specialists in artificial intelligence. CEO Kang Suk-kyoon said the firm plans to increase sales from 300 billion won this year to 1 trillion won by 2035, requiring roughly 15% growth each year, and may pursue mergers, acquisitions, or further investments to achieve this.
Ahnlab also targets expanding its international sales share from one outlet 10% to 30% by 2035 and will establish a cyber defense center in the Middle East to meet rising demand for data and AI sovereignty. The company, founded in 1995 and known for its V3 antivirus, reported 130.37 billion won in sales and 7.3 billion won in operating profit in the first half of the year.
Why it matters
The plan signals a major shift toward AI in South Korea's cybersecurity sector and could boost the country's tech exports.
