Alex Karp, the billionaire behind Palantir and a prominent figure in artificial intelligence, has bought a forested property in Härjedalen, Sweden. Expressen characterized the transaction as odd, noting Karp’s extensive involvement in Swedish AI through his company, which has maintained contracts with both the national defence forces and police for many years. The purchase is intended for ownership and active forestry management.

Local authorities, including Therese Kärngård, mayor of Berg municipality, acknowledged the acquisition and said it naturally raises questions, though she expressed no immediate concern and is awaiting more information. Residents are familiar with the land, which has historically been a popular site for elk hunting. The deal adds another dimension to Palantir’s Swedish operations, which have been ongoing for roughly fourteen years.
