A study from the University of Sydney shows that modern humans use three to five times less energy than their ancestors, a decline accelerated by the digital revolution that turned many mobile jobs into screen-based work. Dr. James Levine of the Mayo Clinic explains that this shift has helped fuel the current obesity epidemic, with three-quarters of U.S. adults now overweight or obese.
