AI entrepreneur Tony Wu identified as buyer of $70 million Hillsborough mansion
The $70 million Hillsborough estate, the most expensive home sale in the Bay Area, has been linked to 31-year-old AI co-founder Tony Yuhuai Wu.
A 12-acre, $70 million estate in Hillsborough, the Bay Area’s most expensive residential transaction, has been traced to Tony Yuhuai Wu, a 31-year-old co-founder of Elon Musk’s artificial-intelligence venture xAI. The property, styled after a Lake Como villa, includes a 12,000-square-foot main residence, a 4,600-square-foot guest house and a sprawling sports complex with courts for tennis, golf, pickleball and more, plus a 150-seat amphitheater and elaborate water features.
The purchase was made through Daikon no Hana Capital LLC, represented by Jia Xu, who also handled a $12 million Los Altos home previously bought by Wu. Attorney Steven Anderson, manager of the LLC, transferred the Los Altos house into a family trust before the Hillsborough deal closed on Aug. 6. Wu’s fortune grew from his roles at OpenAI, Google DeepMind and the AI boom following SpaceX’s record-breaking IPO. The former owners were private-equity investor Ted Kruttschnitt and his spouse.
