AI-powered startup Empirik secures $21 million seed round to avert system outages
Empirik, an AI observability platform for infrastructure, raised $21 million in seed funding and spun out as an independent company.
Avon Puri and Sudheer Dhurjati created Empirik to use large-language-model AI for forecasting infrastructure incidents before they happen. After a 2023 incubation by Sequoia Capital, the startup appointed former Quantum Metric chief product officer Kartik Chandrayana as chief executive earlier this year. On Tuesday, Empirik announced a $21 million seed investment from Sequoia, Canapi and Alumni Ventures, and its transition to an independent company.
The platform tracks system modifications, evaluates their ripple effects, and automatically permits low-risk changes while flagging risky updates for human review. Clients range from startups to Fortune 500 firms such as S&P Global, Guardant Health and a leading CPG company. Sequoia partner Bogomil Balkansky described Empirik as a novel observability layer that complements existing AI-SRE solutions like Resolve and Traversal.
Why it matters
The funding enables Empirik to develop AI tools that could reduce costly IT outages for large enterprises.
