AI world-model firms cloak research as they court future markets
Leaders of AMI Labs and World Labs admitted their world-model projects are still in research mode and declined to reveal commercial plans.
At the All In conference, a discussion on world models revealed that the sector’s leading players, AMI Labs and World Labs, are keeping development details tightly under wraps. AMI Labs’ co-founder and VP of World Models, Michael Rabbatt, said the firm is still in a research phase and will announce products when appropriate. World Labs demonstrated its Marble system, capable of creating explorable media, yet provided no clear path to commercialization.
Even suppliers like Physicl, represented by CEO Alex de Vigan, admit they lack insight into the specific applications their data supports. The technology’s versatility—from self-driving maps to robotics and video rendering—means many potential revenue streams, but companies appear to prefer secrecy to avoid alerting rivals, echoing a “Dark Forest” strategy.
