AIADMK leader condemns Tamil Nadu government's silence on fisherman killed by Saudi pirates
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami accused the Tamil Nadu government of ignoring a pirate attack that killed fisherman P Maaveeran and injured three others.
During a session in Chennai, AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami denounced the Tamil Nadu government for failing to address a pirate assault off Saudi Arabia that claimed the life of 39-year-old fisherman P Maaveeran and left three crew members critically injured. He expressed bewilderment at legislators who clapped and laughed as his party walked out in protest. Palaniswami noted that a notice under Rule 55 had been submitted five days prior, yet the assembly had not taken up the special calling-attention motion.
He highlighted that the deceased hailed from Thoduvai village in Mayiladuthurai and that the injured are receiving treatment in Saudi Arabia. The AIADMK claimed the victims' relatives are contacting party MLAs for assistance and urged the government to repatriate the body and secure the safe return of the wounded.
