Air Canada adds $30 fee for bookings made by phone
Starting Oct. 15, Air Canada will charge a non-refundable $30 fee for each passenger when a reservation is made through its call centre.
Effective Oct. 15, Air Canada introduced a $30 non-refundable fee for every passenger when a flight is booked by calling the airline’s contact centre. The cost is applied per passenger, meaning a four-person reservation would total $120. The fee does not apply to bookings made through the airline’s website, mobile app, or to changes of already-booked itineraries, including those affected by delays or cancellations.
The carrier explained that the measure pushes travelers toward digital channels and allows call-centre agents to focus on situations that require personalized assistance. Passengers who need specialized support, such as those with accessibility requirements, are exempt from the charge. The airline also noted that a similar fee already exists for Aeroplan reward bookings.
