Air Force Academy football dons B-21 inspired gear as Space Force unveils new ceremonial uniform

On Oct 3, the United States Air Force Academy football squad will wear an “alternative” uniform for the tenth Air Power Legacy Series game against the Navy Midshipmen, a design that honors the Northrop Grumman B-21 Raider, the service’s newest stealth bomber and first sixth-generation combat aircraft. Northrop Grumman corporate vice president Tom Jones said the uniform mirrors the bomber’s silhouette, stealth characteristics and advanced technology, underscoring the partnership between the contractor and the Air Force.

The Navy will remain in its standard attire, with its special Army-Navy game design still pending for Dec 12, 2026. Separately, the United States Space Force Honor Guard presented a brand-new ceremonial service dress at the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C., replacing the modified Air Force service uniform used since 2019. Chief Master Sgt Ross Koehler explained that the new look, featuring a Space Force blue belt, cap and shoulder rope, showcases the branch’s identity, while guard member Spc 3 Amelia Olsen noted its historic significance. The ceremony also featured other military ceremonial units and musical ensembles.
