Air Force orders AI integration across all training programs, urges leaders to overcome pushback

Air Education and Training Command unveiled a comprehensive AI strategy that will permeate all levels of Air Force training, from basic recruit instruction to advanced professional education. The plan aims to cut technical specialty training time by about 20 percent using adaptive, AI-driven instruction and to treat data and AI fluency as core competencies comparable to marksmanship. Lt. Gen. Clark Quinn, who leads AETC, wrote that wing commanders and line instructors must actively counter cultural resistance and streamline AI deployment.

The guidance gives subordinate commands three months to devise concrete implementation plans. This effort aligns with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s earlier order to make the services "AI-first" and to remove bureaucratic obstacles to technology adoption.
