AirAsia Malaysia secures operating licence extension through 2029

AirAsia Malaysia received a renewed Air Operator Certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, extending its permission to conduct commercial flights until September 30, 2029. The renewal follows a regulatory assessment confirming the airline meets all required safety and operational standards. AirAsia Malaysia, which provides 61% of Malaysia's domestic seat capacity and runs 1,620 flights each week, serves 15 domestic and 73 international routes in 22 countries.

The carrier intends to deploy additional aircraft in the Malaysian market as it continues to optimise its fleet and network. General manager Datuk Captain Fareh Mazputra highlighted the importance of regulatory compliance and safe, affordable connectivity for travelers. The airline also noted KLIA's top ranking as a low-cost hub and its 2026 Skytrax award as the World's Best Low-Cost Airline.
