airBaltic to cut up to 700 jobs across its Baltic hubs
airBaltic announced plans to reduce its staff by roughly one-fifth, potentially affecting 500-700 positions at its Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn bases.
airBaltic revealed a restructuring initiative that may eliminate between 500 and 700 jobs, roughly one-fifth of its total staff, at its Baltic locations in Riga, Vilnius and Tallinn. The airline is consulting trade unions about possible workload reductions for pilots and cabin crew while also creating new internal structures. The final staffing numbers will be determined by mid-October, and the company pledged to keep the process transparent and compliant with legal requirements.
Current flight schedules will not be affected, and the airline remains fully operational. CEO Erno Hildén said the company will keep employees informed as decisions are finalized.
Why it matters
The cuts could reshape the Baltic aviation labor market and affect thousands of workers in the region.
