Airbus targets a Portugal-specific Eurofighter, proposal due early November

During a Lisbon press event, Airbus unveiled its intention to sell Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft to Portugal, stressing a version that could be "as Portuguese as possible" for the next 30-40 years, according to campaign manager Ivan Gonzalez Exposito. He contrasted the Eurofighter’s suitability for the Portuguese Air Force’s patrol role with the F-35’s design for combat over enemy territory. Airbus aims to finalize a price by the end of October or early November and expects to reach an agreement with the Portuguese government within months, though no firm deadline was given.

The firm currently collaborates with 35 Portuguese suppliers, spending annually on those partnerships. Airbus also highlighted the Eurofighter program’s broader European economic impact, noting thousands of jobs and hundreds of existing orders across the continent.
