Airlines raise fares and trim routes as jet fuel costs more than double
SAS, Norse Atlantic Airways and Norwegian are lifting ticket prices and cutting several domestic and international flights after global jet-fuel prices have more than doubled since the Middle-East conflict began.
Facing a surge in global jet-fuel prices that have more than doubled since the war in the Middle East started, SAS, Norse Atlantic Airways and Norwegian are adjusting their operations. SAS will implement temporary price adjustments and cut a limited number of flights, initially targeting routes between Oslo and Bergen, Stavanger, Trondheim, as well as monitoring services to Stockholm and Copenhagen. The carrier also confirmed the cancellation of its Dubai route in winter and now the Tel Aviv service.
Norse Atlantic Airways plans to pause its Oslo-New York JFK connection for the upcoming winter season, reduce frequencies on several routes, and increase flights to Thailand, while grounding two of its twelve aircraft for the season. Norwegian will maintain its winter schedule with a typical reduction in departures but no fuel-price-driven cancellations. Each airline says it will notify impacted customers promptly, provide clear alternatives, and allow refunds for those who decline rebooking.
