Alan Ritchson Blames Donald Trump for Cancelled Prime Video ‘Die Trying’ Adaptation

Alan Ritchson, the lead of the Amazon Prime Video series Reacher, publicly blamed Donald Trump for the decision to scrap a planned adaptation of Lee Child’s 1998 thriller Die Trying. Ritchson posted on Threads after fans voiced frustration that the second Jack Reacher novel would not be produced, and later implied on a podcast that Trump should be incarcerated because of his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. The actor’s political outspokenness has previously drawn attention, notably when a 2020 image of him wearing a “Arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor” shirt resurfaced.

In response, a White House spokesperson labeled Ritchson a “talentless hack” suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” While the Die Trying project was halted, the upcoming Reacher season will now adapt Make Me, the series’ twelfth installment. Ritchson’s comments highlight the intersection of entertainment projects and partisan politics.
