Albany Resident Arrested for Plotting Bomb Attack on New York State Capitol
Federal agents detained Jessica Bowie, a 35-year-old from Albany, for allegedly planning a bomb aimed at the New York State Capitol and its senators.
Jessica Bowie, 35, of Albany, was taken into custody after a federal investigation revealed a scheme to bomb the New York State Capitol and kill legislators inside. The affidavit states she expressed allegiance to ISIS and explored ways to conceal a bomb in a DoorDash delivery bag, intending to strike while senators convened. Beginning in mid-July, she repeatedly visited the Capitol, walking the premises on about five occasions between July 21 and August 9, taking photos and mapping security.
In messages to an FBI informant acting as an ISIS contact, she described plans to linger near the building for observation and to cause maximum damage. Authorities say the plot was uncovered after she sought assistance in making explosives, leading to her arrest before any device could be built.
