Alberta Invests $71 Million to Finish Calgary Radiopharmaceutical Centre
The Alberta government, the Alberta Cancer Foundation and private partners pledged $71 million to complete the Calgary Radiopharmaceutical Centre, slated to open in 2029.
Alberta Minister of Hospital and Surgical Health Services Adri LaGrange announced a $71 million funding package for the new radiopharmaceutical facility at the Foothills Medical Centre site. The package includes $64 million from the province over three years and $7 million from the Alberta Cancer Foundation, plus donations from the Cul-Culbert Family Foundation and the Calgary Health Foundation. The centre will support the roughly 11,000 scans performed annually in the province, a demand that officials is expected to triple by 2040. Construction is already under way with a target opening in 2029.
