Alberta releases locations for over 1,400 polling stations ahead of Oct. 19 referendum

The provincial election authority, Elections Alberta, has published the addresses of just over 1,400 polling stations where Albertans will cast their votes on Oct. 19. Residents can find their assigned location by entering their address on the agency’s website or by waiting for a mailed "Where to Vote" card. In addition, 310 polling sites have been designated for the early voting period running from Oct. 13 through Oct. 17, and any of these sites may be used for advance ballots.

Election officials anticipate a historic level of participation in the ten-question referendum, which will ask voters whether to stay in Canada or to schedule a second, binding vote on leaving the Confederation. The final day to request a mail-in ballot is Friday, and the agency reported that over 520,000 Albertans have applied for mail voting to date.
