Aldi recalls Ambiano Ionic hairdryers over electric shock risk

Aldi has issued a recall for its Ambiano Ionic hairdryers after the Office for Product Safety and Standards warned they could cause electric shock or fire.

Aldi has launched a safety recall of its Ambiano Ionic Hairdryers, citing a high risk of electric shock and potential fire due to cord damage over time. The Office for Product Safety and Standards issued the alert, noting the product fails to meet the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016. Customers who purchased the dryer in August or September 2025 are instructed to cease use and bring the item back to the nearest Aldi outlet for a complete refund, regardless of whether packaging remains.

The recall covers four colour options, each identified by specific barcodes. Aldi apologized for the inconvenience and emphasized the precautionary nature of the supplier's action. This recall comes shortly after the OPSS also flagged Mint Velvet Raya Espadrille wedge sandals sold by Next for a footbed detachment risk.

Why it matters

Consumers need to stop using a potentially dangerous hairdryer and can obtain a refund, preventing injury or fire.
