Alex DeBrincat Confirms He Wants to Remain with Detroit Red Wings

According to veteran Red Wings reporter Bob Duff, Alex DeBrincat indicated he wants to remain with Detroit, emphasizing his Michigan upbringing and the importance of being near his family. The winger is entering the last season of the four-year contract he signed after the club acquired him from Ottawa in 2023, with a $7.875 million annual cap hit and free agency eligibility in the summer of 2027. He finished the most recent season with 41 goals, 44 assists and 85 points, topping the team’s scoring chart.

DeBrincat grew up in Farmington Hills, has long been a fan of the Red Wings, and previously described playing for his hometown team as a dream. Detroit has also committed long-term to forward Lucas Raymond, and keeping DeBrincat would add another proven scorer amid ongoing roster questions, including Dylan Larkin’s trade request.
