Aligarh Muslim University teacher targeted by Instagram harassment; police file FIR

A female faculty member at Aligarh Muslim University was subjected to an Instagram harassment campaign that attacked her personal life and Northeastern identity, leading to a police FIR.

A woman teacher at Aligarh Muslim University faced a sustained online attack via the Instagram handle “Voice of AMU,” which featured derogatory comments about her personal life, health and her Northeastern roots. Seeking protection, she approached AMU proctor Mohammad Naved, demanding the removal of the posts, suspension of the account and arrests of those responsible. Naved labeled the remarks highly objectionable and sent the complaint to Civil Lines police station, where a first one outlet's report was filed under BNS sections 352 and 356 and IT Act section 67.

DSP Sarvam Singh confirmed that the cyber cell is analyzing digital footprints to identify the page administrators. The investigation aims to halt the campaign and hold the perpetrators accountable.
