Alison dos Santos shatters 400m hurdles world record in Zurich meet

Brazilian hurdler Alison dos Santos ran 45.80 seconds at the Zurich Diamond League, eclipsing the previous world record.

During the Zurich leg of the Diamond League, Brazil's Alison dos Santos delivered a historic 400-metre hurdles run of 45.80 seconds, surpassing Karsten Warholm's 2021 world record of 45.94. The 26-year-old, unbeaten this season, lowered his previous best of 46.29 by 0.49 seconds. Warholm placed a distant second, and the meet also highlighted potential record attempts by Audrey Werro of Switzerland and Emmanuel Wanyonyi of Kenya in the 800 metres. Additional contests saw Greece's Emmanouil Karalis challenging pole-vaulter Armand "Mondo" Duplantis, while British sprinter Amy Hunt struggled against top global competitors, with Julian Alfred edging out Melissa Jefferson-Wooden in a photo finish.
