All assault and intimidation charges dropped against Bondi hero Ahmed Al Ahmed

The court in Bankstown announced that all assault and intimidation charges against Ahmed Al Ahmed have been withdrawn. Al Ahmed, who was shot multiple times while trying to disarm a gunman during the Bondi terror attack, had been charged in June over a March domestic incident at a Bankstown residence. He had entered a not-guilty plea, and the case progressed to a hearing where the prosecution agreed to drop the charges after the defence secured a 12-month domestic-violence order for Al Ahmed.

Defence counsel Mohamed Sakr stated the order was accepted without any admission of wrongdoing, and a police prosecutor confirmed the arrangement, citing the complainant’s withdrawn statement. The judge read out the order’s conditions, which bar Al Ahmed from assaulting, threatening, stalking, harassing, or damaging his father’s property or harming any of his father’s animals. The decision closes a legal chapter for the man lauded as a hero by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and supported by a $2.6 million fundraiser.
