All Thrift Savings Plan funds post gains in August after two months of decline
Every Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) fund recorded positive returns in August, ending a two-month stretch of flat performance.
After two months of sluggish market activity, the Thrift Savings Plan saw every one of its investment options appreciate in August. International equities in the I Fund climbed 3.32%, bringing its year-to-date growth to 19.18%. The C Fund, covering large- and mid-size companies, rose 2.72%, and the S Fund, focused on smaller firms, gained 2.27%, taking their 2026 gains to 13.12% and 16.10% respectively.
The fixed-income F Fund edged up 0.40%, narrowing its 2027 loss to 0.16%, while the G Fund increased 0.41%, marking a 3.00% rise for the year. All lifecycle (L) funds also posted gains, with increases ranging from about 1.11% for the L Income Fund to roughly 2.86% for the later-dated funds.
Why it matters
TSP participants see their retirement savings grow after a period of stagnation, improving long-term investment outlooks.
