Allahabad High Court Allows Parole for Atiq Ahmed's Sons to Attend Brother's Burial

The Allahabad High Court issued a parole order for Ali and Umar Ahmed, both incarcerated, to enable them to join the funeral rites of their brother Abaan Ahmed. The petition was submitted by Parveen Qureshi, who is identified as Atiq Ahmed's sister, and was considered by justices Ajay Bhanot and Divesh Chandra Samant. Abaan, aged 21, lost his life in a vehicle accident in Jhansi district that also claimed his friend Sonu, 25, while three other occupants, including Azam, Mohammad Javed and Umar, sustained injuries and were hospitalized.

The family plans to inter Abaan at the Kasari-Masari graveyard on Saturday, a site that already contains the graves of Atiq Ahmed, his brother Ashraf, and his son Asad. Ali remains in Jhansi jail and Umar in Lucknow jail, and both have been granted temporary release to attend the ceremony.
