Alpine confirmed that Argentine driver Franco Colapinto will stay with the squad for the 2027 Formula One season, partnering lead driver Pierre Gasly. Colapinto earned his best result of sixth place at the Canadian Grand Prix and a seventh place in Miami, prompting the team to lock him in early. Executive director Flavio Briatore highlighted the youngster’s growth and the importance of driver stability while the team prioritises car performance.
Alpine, which finished last in 2025, has risen to sixth after 12 races, highlighted by Gasly’s podium in Monaco pending a McLaren appeal. The team’s resurgence is linked to abandoning its 2025 car to focus on a new chassis and switching to Mercedes power units after Renault ended its engine programme.
