Also Secures $150 Million, Valued Over $1 Billion as Platform for Tiny Autonomous Vehicles
Palo Alto-based Also closed a $150 million Series D, lifting its valuation above $1 billion and positioning the firm as a provider of technology for vehicles smaller than cars.
Also, a micromobility startup headquartered in Palo Alto, announced a $150 million Series D financing that pushes its post-money valuation past $1 billion. Led by Prysm Capital and joined by Eclipse Capital and Greenoaks, the round follows earlier $105 million spin-out funding and a $200 million Series C earlier this year. Co-founder and CEO Chris Yu explained that the firm’s proprietary motors, batteries, compute and software are meant to be embedded in any vehicle smaller than a car, from pedal-assist delivery quads to eventually fully autonomous passenger pods.
The company emerged from a stealth project at Rivian in early 2025, with Rivian founder RJ Scaringe remaining chairman of both entities. Existing commercial agreements with Amazon and DoorDash point to a future where the same technology powers small-scale autonomous logistics. Yu argues that in dense metro areas, tiny, purpose-built electric vehicles will become a routine part of the transport mix, offering lower cost, reduced congestion and minimal environmental impact.
Why it matters
The investment fuels development of compact autonomous vehicles that could change how cities move people and goods.
