Altice's Syma Mobile hit with major fraud authority fine for illegal calls

France's fraud-prevention agency identified several violations by Syma Mobile, the virtual mobile operator acquired by Altice in 2022. The company did not provide the required monthly data to Bloctel, the registry that blocks unsolicited calls, and it called consumers who were listed on that registry. Additionally, the regulator noted that some customers were contacted more than four times within a calendar month, which breaches the Consumer Code.

These infractions led the agency to impose a hefty fine on the operator. Bloctel, introduced in 2016, was later deactivated after a law banning non-consensual telemarketing took effect. Syma Mobile continues to operate as an MVNO under Altice's ownership.
