Amazon adds 20 fulfillment hubs and 150 delivery stations across India for holiday rush
Amazon announced the launch of 20 new fulfillment centres, six sort hubs and 150 last-mile delivery stations in India, boosting its storage capacity by 50 % ahead of the festive shopping season.
Amazon disclosed a major expansion of its Indian logistics network, unveiling 20 new fulfillment centres, six sort centres and 150 last-mile delivery stations to meet the expected surge in holiday demand. The added capacity lifts the company's total storage in the country to 64 million cubic feet, a 50 % increase. Sort centres are slated for Chikkaballapur, Hassan, Meerut, Ramanagar, Raipur and Varanasi, and seven of the fulfillment centres will be situated in smaller cities.
The delivery stations will operate in 118 cities, with twelve towns - including Bhojpur, Bokajan and Wokha - getting their inaugural Amazon hub. Third-party logistics firms will manage all new sites. Abhinav Singh, Amazon’s VP of Operations for India and surrounding regions, said the rollout will create tens of thousands of jobs and support local economic growth.
