Amazon adds locker service to over 750 U.S. college campuses
Amazon is rolling out its self-service lockers to more than 750 colleges and universities nationwide, letting students collect packages on campus at no extra charge.
Amazon announced that its locker network will be extended to more than 750 colleges and universities throughout the United States, providing a convenient, secure pickup point for campus residents. Eligible parcels will be sent to the lockers, and recipients will get an email detailing how to open the unit, with a three-day holding period. Viraj Chatterjee, vice president of Amazon Transportation, explained that the move is intended to fit package collection into students' daily routines rather than the other way around.
The lockers are offered at no additional cost to members of Prime for Young Adults, a subscription priced at $7.49 per month or $69 annually, which requires a driver’s license, passport, or identity card for age verification. By integrating the service into campus life, Amazon aims to streamline deliveries for the student demographic.
