Amazon blocks Meta's Muse AI assistant from accessing its marketplace

Amazon is preventing Meta's Muse AI assistant from conducting transactions on its marketplace, displaying a warning that such access breaches the retailer's terms. The e-commerce giant explained that Muse was not pre-approved, fails to disclose its presence, and appears to harvest and store user credentials, raising data-security concerns. Amazon also noted that agents could bypass its personalized recommendation system, potentially showing irrelevant products.

The company reiterated that third-party applications must operate openly, respect opt-out decisions, and provide mutual value. Meta has not provided comment on the block. The dispute follows Amazon's broader effort to keep external AI agents, including those from Perplexity, Google and OpenAI, off its platform.
