Amazon expands AI-driven surveillance with new smart delivery glasses

Amazon unveiled smart delivery glasses equipped with a battery-filled vest, aiming to substitute smartphones for navigation and proof-of-delivery tasks. Early training sessions are under way in select Delivery Service Partner fleets, with a full deployment possibly slated for the upcoming holiday period. The devices automatically activate when the vehicle is parked and stream video to Amazon, its DSPs, and the Driver.i platform, which already monitors drivers through multiple cameras and AI analysis.

Critics argue the technology deepens workplace surveillance and could be used to discipline workers rather than improve safety. The move follows Amazon’s broader pattern of adopting existing monitoring tools—such as GPS tracking and Ring cameras—and intensifying control over its largely contract-based delivery workforce.
