Amazon faces proposed class action alleging systematic pregnancy discrimination
A proposed class action filed in Brooklyn accuses Amazon of routinely denying pregnant warehouse workers basic accommodations and firing them for taking time off.
Four former Amazon warehouse employees have sued the company in federal court, claiming it violates federal and New York labor laws by refusing chairs, bathroom and water breaks, and prenatal appointment leave. The complaint alleges that Amazon regularly threatens and dismisses pregnant staff who request accommodations and demands medical documentation. Plaintiffs seek back pay, benefits and punitive damages. Amazon has not responded to requests for comment.
