Amazon MGM Studios appoints Carina Walker to lead Young Adult division

Amazon MGM Studios' global TV chief Peter Friedlander has promoted Carina Walker to head its Young Adult unit, succeeding Alex Weinberger.

Amazon MGM Studios' global television leader Peter Friedlander confirmed that Carina Walker has been elevated to oversee the company's Young Adult segment, a position previously held by Alex Weinberger since its inception in 2024. Walker's Amazon tenure spans 9.5 years, during which she contributed to drama series, international content development, and notable YA titles like "Off Campus" and "Every Year After." Friedlander highlighted her strong talent relationships and upcoming BookTok-driven projects as reasons for the appointment.

The promotion coincides with Andy Weil's arrival as head of comedy, completing Friedlander's newly formed executive lineup that also includes Kara Smith (drama), Blair Fetter (worldbuilding), Jenn Levy (nonfiction) and Melissa Wolfe (animation). Walker's career includes early work on "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" and "Goliath," a stint at Apple TV, and leadership of Prime Video International.

Why it matters

The appointment signals Amazon MGM Studios' continued focus on expanding its Young Adult content slate.
