Amazon negotiates potential $7 billion purchase of AI firm Decart
Amazon is reportedly in discussions to buy AI startup Decart in a deal valued around $7 billion.
According to insiders, Amazon is in advanced talks to acquire Decart, an AI startup whose Lucy model enables real-time live-video editing and whose Oasis system creates simulated environments for training robots and self-driving cars. Decart, backed by Nvidia, was valued at almost $4 billion in May and recently secured a $300 million funding round led by Radical Ventures, with Nvidia joining as a new investor. A prior acquisition attempt by Anthropic collapsed after due-diligence, and that deal had been rumored at about $6 billion.
The prospective Amazon transaction could be worth roughly $7 billion, pending successful negotiations and the absence of competing offers. Neither Amazon nor Decart have commented, and verification of the report remains pending.
Why it matters
The deal would give Amazon a powerful AI video-editing tool and robotics simulation tech, strengthening its cloud and AI services.
