Amazon rebrands Kindle Unlimited as Kindle Plus and adds AI-narrated audiobooks

Amazon has renamed its Kindle Unlimited subscription to Kindle Plus, keeping unlimited ebook access while expanding the catalog with AI-generated audiobooks.

Amazon announced that its Kindle Unlimited subscription will be rebranded as Kindle Plus, retaining the same monthly price of $11.99 and the ability to borrow up to 20 titles simultaneously without set return dates. The service will still provide unlimited access to a curated selection of ebooks, comics and magazines, while also adding a larger pool of audiobooks at no extra charge. New AI-generated "virtual voice" audiobooks will be automatically included for titles enrolled in KDP Select, and authors can choose to apply AI narration to older works.

Human-narrated audiobooks produced through Audible’s ACX marketplace will become available to Kindle Plus members in the United States, with plans to roll out the feature to other regions later. The change is positioned as a way to blend reading and listening experiences seamlessly.
